Gapwork Gap Year Tips: What is a Gap Year Volunteer?
Many people now want to volunteer overseas as part of their gap year. There are thousands of volunteer opportunities out there so the first thing you need to decide is what type of volunteer work you would like to do. You don’t have to volunteer for a full year. Most gap year volunteer organisations run volunteering projects overseas and in the UK from a few weeks to a few months.
If you want to volunteer in Africa, for example, you could get volunteer work building villages or teaching in schools. You could even get a voluntary job where you work with animals - perfect if you're passionate about conservation. Lots of gap year organisations can organise the volunteer work for you. They will of course charge a fee for organising your volunteer job, but this usually includes your flight and their volunteering experience will help you get the volunteer job of your dreams.
