It’s going to be a wonderful summer, and as a GapGuru volunteer, you can be in the heat of it!
GapGuru works with a wide range of carefully chosen voluntary projects across India. Immerse yourself in a new culture, Live, work and enjoy yourself as part of the local community. Whether you want to volunteer, travel or gain essential hands on experience in your area of specialisation, GapGuru will create the ideal gap year or summer holiday experience for you.
People need your help everywhere in India and there are many exciting opportunities to put your skills to good use. You could find yourself teaching English or Rock n’ Roll. You could be caring for kids, or crocodiles! Your classroom could be a children’s playground or a traveling bus. You could be telling stories, or editing storybooks. You could be showing kids how to log on to a computer, or just making them laugh.
There are sports programmes that need assistance – and creative arts groups too. From throwing frisbees to pottery, dribbling a canoe paddle or a basketball. Directing a drama or a table tennis ball. Giving support however you can. There are active roles that will reward you every day you’re there. Make your summer 2009, or gap year 2009 - 2010 an exciting and fulfilling one with GapGuru.

Gapwork Gap Year Tips: When to Visit India
A visit to India should avoid the monsoon seasons. In late May or early June Western India plays host to torrential rains virtually every afternoon (and we mean torrential - try pouring a bucket of water over your head and you'll understand!). In October and November it's the turn of the East and South of the country and finally in July and August the mountainous areas of Northeast India get their turn. The weather in India is as varied as everything else in this vast country. India has hot tropical weather with variations occurring from region to region. The coolest months are from November to mid-March and the hottest are from April to June.
