Join a Paid Work Placement in 2010

13th of December 2009

The Accenture Horizons Scheme combines work experience with time to travel

The Accenture Horizons Scheme is designed for A-level school leavers planning to take a year out before university and is for those who want to combine work experience and training with time out to travel.

The placement lasts for eight months running from September to May and really does give you the best of both worlds: you will spend eight months gaining real-life experience with Accenture, be paid a £20,000 pro rata salary, and have the time – and money – to travel before you start university.

You will benefit from a comprehensive induction into everything consulting, learning first-hand on projects that could vary from getting a product to market at speed, to creating a brand new business from scratch. You will also have the opportunity to sharpen your IT knowledge. You will be learning through participation rather than lessons, so it won’t be like going back to school. And Accenture also organise some social and group-based activities to help you to get to know the other people taking part.

After this, it is straight to the front-line as a team member working anywhere within the Accenture consulting workforce - and you may typically gain experience in around 2-3 industry sectors. You will learn a lot - and fast. But Accenture will allocate you a buddy so that help is always at hand.  Your buddy will answer your questions and provide well-informed advice. Participants will be given two formal evaluations during the course of the scheme, so that you can find out how well you’re doing and about areas you need to work on.

If you are an upper sixth-former with a genuine interest in business and technology, if you have good grades in Maths and English at GCSE level or equivalent, and expect to attain 340 or more UCAS points at A-level or equivalent (or five Bs in Scottish Highers) then consider applying for a place on this scheme.  Applications are open now and close on the 31st January 2010.
