Going it alone in Europe
Our guide to finding a job under your own steam.
OK, so we've told you about large companies who recruit staff every year to work in their resorts and camps - and about companies who will find you work. This page is for those of you who then want to go it alone, arrive in a resort or city and job hunt(and there are plenty of people who successfully do just that every year!).
Lots of young people head for the European resorts and exchange long working hours (and relatively low pay) for nights spent clubbing and days off spent sunbathing. If that is your thing, you could start by looking up a few bars and clubs and calling or emailing them form the UK, but realistically the only way to find work is by taking the plunge and heading out there - where you can speak to people face to face! See our useful links below for a few websites to get you started. For much more info on Holiday Resorts, see our Holiday and Ski Resorts section.
If you're more inclined to soak up the culture and experience life in a European city, we've got links to some useful Employment Agencies who you could contact from the UK. Alternatively you could plan to arrive in a city and start canvassing bars restaurants and hotels - it will help if you speak the native language, but it's not essential. See below for some more useful links.
