Gap Activity Projects

Teaching placements worldwide ranging from 3-6 months

Gap Activity Projects (GAP) is a charity specialising in international volunteering for 17 - 25 year olds. GAP have a global vision, and aim to provide unique experiences of voluntary work placements for young people from around the world.

They have been placing volunteers since 1977 and over 25,000 young people have volunteered with them. Today GAP operate in Africa, Asia, the Americas, Europe, and Australasia - sending 2,000 young people a year to volunteer in teaching, caring, environmental, outdoor activity, medical and community development projects.

Teaching placements abroad span all continents and the length of placement will range from 3 to 6 months. Board and accommodation is included at the schools and some even provide ‘pocket’ money. You will be able to benefit from the appropriate school holidays and will usually be placed with another volunteer.

Depending on the country you will either assist a teacher in the school or in some cases be the sole English teacher for the class. Some placements will require you to undertake a teaching skills course that will give you the confidence and preparation you need at your school.
