Resort Jobs in Europe

Made infamous by the TV documentary of the same name, Club Reps are probably the most high profile jobs with tour operators. But the big companies that sell package holidays need more than just club reps - there are opportunities for hotel managers, chefs, catering assistants, water sports instructors, crèche supervisors and nannies, walking guides, entertainers, sports hosts, and maintenance staff. Whether you end up working a summer season in Spain or staying in the industry for years, you can gain valuable working abroad experience in this kind of job.

Club 18-30

Club 18-30Club 18-30 organise package holidays for young people looking for a holiday that revolves around partying, socialising and organised activities (mostly involving alcohol!). Recruitment for the summer begins in the summer before, so send in your application form in July and August. Interviews for the following summer are held in November.

Club 18-30 require all staff to have the following skills:

  • Talent for communication and customer care
  • Ability to work both in a team and make your own individual contribution
  • Confident, approachable personality
  • Heaps of enthusiasm and common sense
  • Determination to meet targets and deadlines
  • Flexibility
  • Sales skills

If this sounds like you, then download an application form via the company website.

Other Rep Opportunities

Other rep opportunities lie with tour operators such as Thomson and First Choice. As a resort rep, children’s rep or ski rep you get your transport paid to the resort, a uniform, insurance, accommodation and training included. You don’t earn a lot of money to begin with, and some companies require you to sell activities to punters on a commission basis, so don’t think its all about lying round in the sun!

You will need to be hardworking, relentlessly upbeat, outgoing and patient to last the full season. If you do find that you enjoy the work, you could work all year round theoretically, with big operators like First Choice needing summer reps from April to October, winter sun reps from November to March, and ski reps.

The UK holiday market is confusing, because it is constantly changing but there are lots of job opportunities, so get your application form in!
