Raleigh International Report a Warning to Gap Year Travellers from the AA

Thursday 16th June 2011

The AA is warning travellers not to cut corners on insurance

Gap year travellers have been warned by the AA to purchase proper insurance cover for their travels as new research carried out by the group show that just over a quarter won’t take out travel insurance.

The AA Travel INsurance group’s survey also showed that 22% don’t buy travel insurance on grounds of cost, while a further 33% don’t think it’s required.

Mark Huggins, director of AA Financial Services said: "I’m particularly concerned that a quarter of those cutting corners say they won’t take out travel insurance which is an entirely false economy."

Raleigh International provides insurance for all of its expeditions which can be extended if volunteers wish to travel before or after their placement.
