Stormtrooper on schedule for Perth to Sydney walk

Monday 28th November 2011

Jacob French, aged 20, a sales assistant from Perth, is currently on the last haul of a mammoth walk from Perth to Sydney, which is around 4000 km along the National Highway. As if this wasn't an event in itself, Jacob, who is raising money for a children's charity, is doing the entire walk dressed as a Stormtrooper, which has led to some of our favourite Aussie travel photos of this year. Due to arrive in Sydney next month, Jacob has braved the heat, the flies and the blisters involved in walking 40km a day in the Australian summer. Check out Jacob's photos on his Facebook page and don't forget to donate to a great cause.

If getting from Aussie city to city on foot doesn't appeal, then you can use more conventional methods of transportation, including a car or campervan. Travellers Autobarn offer a range of cars and campervans which you can rent or even buy with guaranteed buyback options, to give you the ultimate flexibility on your gap year downunder.
