International Student Volunteers is one of the highest rated volunteer organizations in the world

International Student Volunteers is recognised as one of the highest rated Volunteer organizations in the world.

Each year over 4,000 students from more than 800 universities and colleges worldwide choose to travel with ISV. ISV offers a unique combination of volunteer projects and action-packed adventure travel in a fun, safe, educational and well-organized environment. ISV participants make a significant difference in the world by annually contributing over 250,000 hours of volunteer work abroad in the fields of conservation and community development.

Last year, over 140 universities granted academic credit to their students for their participation in the ISV Volunteer Program.

ISV Programs run across six continents, taking place in Australia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Eastern Europe, New Zealand, South Africa and Thailand.  Volunteer programmes available now include education projects, conservation projects, community development, building projects, research projects, habitat restoration and wild animal rescue.  And after your volunteer project you can explore your host country with like minded people on an adventure tour.

Gap Year Jobs Tips: Voluntary Jobs

Many people now want to volunteer overseas as part of their gap year or career break, or even post retirement! There are thousands of voluntary job opportunities out there so the first thing you need to decide is what type of volunteer work you would like to do.

You do not have to volunteer for a full year. Most gap year volunteer organisations run volunteering projects overseas and in the UK from a few weeks to a few months.

If you want to volunteer in Africa, for example, you could get volunteer work building villages or teaching in schools. You could even get a voluntary job where you work with animals - perfect if you are passionate about conservation.

Lots of gap year organisations can organise the volunteer work for you. They will of course charge a fee for organising your volunteer job, but this usually includes your flight and their volunteering experience will help you get the volunteer job of your dreams.
