A gap year working in America

By Web Editor

Fancy travelling across America in your gap year? If you are a student you can work on a gap year or summer holiday to America by getting a gap year work visa. Gap year organisations such as Camp America and BUNAC specialise in helping you find work in the USA on summer camps or in regular American jobs. You can find out more about these gap year organisations in our America Jobs and America Destinations sections.

You can spend your gap year in America working on a children’s camp. Your gap year job could include looking after American children, or working ‘behind the scenes’. You can be a general helper, or if you have a specialist skill, such as a sport you can opt to focus on teaching this during your gap year adventure. Sports that are usual in America summer camps include:

  • Archery
  • Canoeing
  • Kayaking
  • Golf
  • Gymnastics
  • Riding
  • High/Low Ropes
  • Tennis
  • Waterskiing
  • Motorboat Driving
  • Windsurfing
  • Fencing
  • Riflery

If you are a student a gap year organisation like BUNAC can help to organise a work visa for America so you can pick the type of job you want (you or course have to find a suitable employer).

Then you can spend the rest of your gap year travelling across America. Trek America are a great gap year organisation if you are looking for an adventure holiday.
