Trekforce Worldwide
Conservation expeditions and projects.
Real Adventure with a Real Purpose
Living in remote locations and with Mayan communities and learning a new language, trekking through the jungle, machete discipline and constructing a scientific research station…
An expedition with Trekforce Worldwide isn’t a normal gap year or career break; their 1 to 5 month expeditions are about tough experiences that really make a difference to the communities and cultures that they work alongside.
Trekforce are driven by a passion for adventure with a real purpose. Conservation and sustainable community development are both key to their expedition projects. They specialise on the mountain and jungle environments in two separate programmes to reflect this.
During an expedition with Trekforce Worldwide you work on anything from a two week to a six week project. The projects are organised at the request of one of their many project partners overseas. These can be local NGOs, international scientific organisations, community groups and occasionally government departments, such as the Ministry for Forestry.
The projects can range from important conservation development projects, such as trail clearing or building satellite camps, and building ranger stations or bird watching towers, to collecting data to support scientific research.
Expeditions for 2007-2008 include Belize and North East India. You can teach in a local school and learn Spanish or Nepalise. In addition you can choose a 6 day diving course to end off your expedition, teach in a local school or learn Spanish. This really is a unique opportunity to combine many different elements into one gap year.
If you want to take a gap year or career break which is about learning new skills, applying the ones you already have, gaining life long friends and unforgettable experiences then visit the Trekforce Worldwide website to read more or register to come to one of our informal open days.
