OK, so we've told you about companies who can help you get a visa and find a tempoary job in the USA. This page is for those of you who then want to go it alone (although unless you are lucky, you'll still need help getting that visa!).

Once you have your visa, you can do any kind of work in the USA. The nature of the visa means however that, as a student or gap year traveller, you are likely to be looking for temporary work that doesn't require you to be fully qualified or very experienced.

American cities offer plenty of opportunities for paid work with temping agencies or major employers. If you have good office skills then use them to earn some cash whilst your are visiting a city. Other skills will also come in handy such as bar or restaurant work.
